In another sweltering day, the Stone Poneys traveled to Sauk Centre on Sunday to finish the regular season. Hoping to build on their Saturday win, the Poneys ended up on the wrong side of a 14-11 score.

Playing their 4th game in 8 days, all without their top two starters, the arms finally wore out. Although the Poneys outhit the Titans 12-7, the Poneys surrendered a combined 13 walks/hit batters. Ironman Jordan Clitty, pitching for the third time in this stretch, took the loss, but kept the Poneys in the game. Both Rob Gabrielson and Austin Timm pitched their third games in the same stretch, and Sean Tillman pitched for the second time in two days.

Things started well for the Poneys, taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning capped by a 3 run homer from cleanup hitter Jim Gabrielson. The bottom of the first foretold the story of the game, though. Sean Tillman was unable to record an out, and gave way to Clitty with the bases loaded. The Titans scored 4 to tie, and added 2 more in the second, and 1 in the fourth. When Clitty tired with one on and one out in the 5th, Rob Gabrielson took over. Gabrielson, who couldn't get a grip on the ball, and had no dry portion on his uniform to wipe off, walked 4 successive batters before yielding to Austin Timm. 7 runners crossed the plate.

The Poneys immediately struck back with 6 runs in the 6th. Only a double play with the bases loaded stopped the rally.
