Sartell Stone Poneys

Recap for the 04/22/2012 game vs. Sartell Muskies (Preseason)

Preview Recap
Sartell Stone Poneys 6, Sartell Muskies 5

in the first action for either team in 2012, the two Sartell teams enjoyed a competitive and back and forth scrimmage. Both teams used several pitchers, with Dave Deminski pitching for both teams at the end. Jim Gabrielson led the hitting, with a towering homerun, and a double in the final inning to ignite the Poneys' comeback against  past battery-mate Deminski. The catchers called the game for both sides and did a good job of keeping things honest.

New pitcher Alex Lotthammer started for the Poneys, followed by Rob Gabrielson, Nick Zierden and Jordan Clitty before Deminsky took over. The fielding for  both teams was crisp, although the Muskies were missing several of their regulars. The best news for the Poneys was that the ball was jumping off their bats. As a new and young team, runs in the first two years have often had to be manufactured. Adding Lotthammer to the pitching rotation, and adding years and pounds to the roster, bodes well for the team.
