The Stone Poneys hosted the Sauk Rapids Jimmys on Saturday, May 19th, at Champion Field. Alex Lotthammer pitched 9 strong innings for the Poneys, striking out 10 and allowing just 4 hits.  The Jimmys were held to two runs, with just one run earned. Both runs by the Jimmys came courtesy of a white and overcast sky which made the ball very hard to track for outfielders. Two flyballs that would have been routine ended up going in the boxscore as runs via a Poney error and a Jimmys double. The ongoing Champion Field renovations will likely include planting trees behind the bleachers following the season, which should help the outfielders. Nick Zierden pitched a scoreless 10th to earn the win.

Aaron Schultz pitched a strong game for the visitors, going all 10 innings and holding the Poneys to just 3 runs. Schultz struck out 12 hitters, and was quick to the plate with runners on base, which kept the game close in spite of 10 hits by the Poneys.

The big hitters for the Poneys were Austin Timm and Jordan Clitty, who each had 3 hits. Timm led off the 10th with a double to the wall in centerfield. After a perfectly executed bunt by Doug Sutherland advanced Timm to third, the Jimmys intentionally walked Jim Gabrielson and Sean Tillman.  A tough call strikeout left Clitty with the bases loaded and two outs. He delivered a line drive single to right center for the winning rbi.
