The Poneys traveled to Cambridge to play the Rum River Bandits on Sunday. While things started well for the Poneys in the score column, there were warning signs that things might not continue. Time after time, the Poneys put themselves in trouble with walks and errors, escaping with bases loaded in the first and third innings.  The wheels came off in the 6th inning, though,  and before it was over the Bandits sent the Poneys home early.

The Poneys survived multiple errors by their infield through 5 innings and held a 4-2 lead entering the 6th. Those 2 runs came courtesy of a dropped popup with two outs in the second. Alex Lotthammer, while striking out 8 batters before leaving with the bases loaded and no outs in the 6th,  struggled with wildness, allowing 5 walks. 2 more errors in the 6th did not help the cause, and the Poneys found themselves down 8-4 entering the 7th. Unfortunately, the bats went silent for Sartell, and the Bandits kept pouring it on. Tyler Waytashek relieved Lotthammer, but struggled with a sore elbow from being hit by a pitch earlier in the game.

For the Poneys, Sean Tillman bashed a 3-run homer in the first inning, and both Rob Gabrielson and Jordan Clitty had multiple hits.  Austin Timm went 1-2 with 2 walks.

For the Bandits, Mick Scardigli performed his duty as a leadoff hitter, drawing 4 walks and going 1-2, scoriing 3 runs. Third batter Andy Julkowski went 3-5 with a triple and walk, and scored 3 runs. Ninth hitter Nate Krudsen was 3-5, getting important leadoff hits in 2 innings.
